Connecticut Child Support Laws

HomeChild Support ConnecticutConnecticut Child Support Laws

The Connecticut Child Support Guidelines Booklet prescribes the Income shares model for determining the child support amount of each parent.

  • The net income of both parents is computed after providing for federal and income taxes and other expenses as allowed in the booklet.
  • The custody amount is divided among the parents on the basis of custodianship.
  • The non-custodial parent will have to compensate the custodian parent for the maintenance and caring of the child in the same way as if they were living together.
  • The custody will prevail until the child reaches eighteen years of age.
