Child support laws of Maryland prescribe the application of “Income Shares model” under which the court of law will apportion the gross income of both the parents in proportion to their individual incomes towards child support.

  • Under the guidelines if parent is spending less than 35% overnights per year with the child, worksheet A will be used; on the other hand worksheet B will be used.
  • The adjusted actual income as computed based on the guidelines will be applied for determining the quantum of amount.
  • The custody will extend until the child turns eighteen or nineteen in the case of children who are set to complete high school.
