
Identity theft is a fraudulent act which in general includes stealing of an individual’s identity for financial or non-financial purposes and is placed under the criminal code article 16 and subdivision 15 of the state penal code.
Illinois Identity theft laws follows certain stringent laws like:
- Identity theft is considered as an aggravated one when the crime is committed against a 60 years old individual.
- Identity theft with a conviction of fraud in obtaining money, goods and services, or any other property is generally a felony of class 3. A punishment of fine or imprisonment generally follows the conviction.
