According to South Carolina identity theft laws, this is considered as a criminal offense.

  • The identity theft in SC is generally placed under the code section S.C. Code Ann§16-13-510 (law. Coop. 2000) et.seq.
  • It is classified as an automatic felony offense and the penalties include fine in discretion or imprisonment for 10 years or both.
  • According to the law, courts have complete right to impose restitution for victim, for the identity fraud.
