Identity theft cases are increasing with time in the US, and Oregon State is not an exception.

Identity theft, in general, is stealing or unauthorized use of a person’s financial or personal identity information.
- According to the law, if an individual commits identity theft, then s/he can be subjected to a class C felony. The punishments like a sentence for 13 months, incarceration, and more will follow.
- If an individual of fewer than 21 years of age commits the crime, then according to the state’s identity theft laws, the person will obtain an exemption from the identity theft laws.
