Massachusetts Consumer Laws cover various consumer issues during
debt collection, repossession, advertising, telemarketing, purchases, returns, etc.
- Massachusetts Do Not Call Registry,
Section 12.02 General Telephone Solicitations Regulations forbids telephone solicitors from making calls to the consumer from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM of local time.
- Section 18.15 of the code of conduct of debt collectors and loan servicers; forbid abuse, threat, or violence from affecting the recovery of debts.
- Debt collection agencies are also forbidden from advertising debts for inducing the repayment.
- Further, visiting the consumer’s place of work unless requested by him is also unlawful under the Law.
