The Maine child support rules follow the “income shares model” for determining the liability of each spouse towards child support in case of divorce.

  • The parents’ gross income will be computed based on the schedule of necessary child support obligation schedules as set out in court from FM 84.
  • There are separate methods for computing child support for children up to 12 and for kids of age 12 to 17.
  • The child support will continue until the child turns 18 or if directed by the court until 19 if the child has not completed high school education.

Here are six tips to properly handle your divorce case.
