DUI/DWI means driving a vehicle under the influence of or while intoxicated with drugs and alcohol in such a way that they can impair the mental and physical condition of the individual.
The Nebraska state law imposes exceptionally harsh penalties on the drivers convicted of DUI/DWI.
The statutes surrounding drunk driving include the following:
- First, the Implied Consent law: where an individual driving a vehicle can be subjected to any chemical test to check the BAC levels, which should ideally be 0.08% in adults, 0.02% in the minors, and 0.04% for commercial drivers.
- Any kind of refusal regarding the test can lead to suspension of the driver’s license and more harsh punishments like monetary compensation or imprisonment.
