but all one needs to do immediately after an accident is to report and

consult the insurance providers to obtain coverage for the damages.

General Legal obligations:

  • Any person involved in New Mexico auto accident should first inform the police and obtain a report explaining the accident.
  • If the auto accident resulted in injuries, death and some property damage, one should file a report within five days.
  • Never leave the place or scene of an accident without stopping after the crash, i.e.,
