In Iowa, it is considered illegal to drive while under the influence of alcohol or any other drugs that can intoxicate and cause physical and mental impairment to an individual. If the blood alcohol concentration is 0.08% or more then the individual can be convicted under the DUI/DWI offense. It is also termed as OUI/OWI in Iowa, which means Operating under the influence or while intoxicated and holds the same stringent laws.

The laws:

  • In Iowa, an individual driving  vehicle can be subjected to a chemical detection test.
  • Refusing to test is an offense.
  • Breach of law where the BAC is found more than 0.08% can cause revocation and suspension of the license followed by imprisonment.
