In general, alimony is provided to financially support the weaker spouse.

It is about six different types under Florida Alimony Law.

They include:

  • Permanent periodic alimony:

It is awarded in long term marriages to help the spouse continue to possess the same lifestyle even after divorce.

  • Rehabilitative alimony:

It is awarded in medium or short duration marriages. The parties should present a rehabilitation plan to receive it.

  • Durational alimony:

It is offered when the permanent or rehabilitative alimony is inappropriate to the case. No plans are to be produced in order to receive this.

  • Lump sum alimony:

Alimony is paid as a lump sum amount.

  • Bridge the gap alimony:

short term alimony to assist a person with the transition.

  • Temporary alimony:

awarded till the final judgment of dissolution of marriage.
