The New York Domestic Relations Laws, section 240 (1-b) along with articles 4, 5, 5A and 5B of the Family Court Act specified
the use of Income Shares Model to determine the child support liability of parents.
- The child support will be applied for taking care of
primary healthcare and
child day care in case the custodial parent is employed.
- The support will terminate when the child attains the age of eighteen,
however, the payments have to be made until the child attains the age of 21.
- The court has also ruled the application of specified percentages for determining the liability based on the number of children.
