The New York Domestic Relations Laws, section 240 (1-b), along with articles 4, 5, 5A, and 5B of the Family Court Act, specified
the use of the Income Shares Model to determine the child support liability of parents.
- Child support will apply for taking care of
the child’s education;
primary healthcare and
child daycare in case the custodial parent is employed.
- The support will terminate when the child attains eighteen; however, the payments have to make until the child attains the age of 21.
- The court has also ruled the application of specified percentages for determining the liability based on the number of children.
